Hi ya'll!

Please remember all dragons are not the same!
When asked for specifics as far as when to start switching from 80% protein 20% greens to 80% greens 20% protein, my advice is this....
Once they hit 100 grams, start skipping every other day for protein.
Once they hit 200 grams, only feed bugs once every 3 days.
Once they hit 300 grams you should only be offering bugs every 4 days.
You will then slowly tapper off over the next 6-8 months until you are only offering bugs once a week, twice a week AT MOST unless you have a female!
Females can lay eggs even when not bred, so offering them more protein than a male, especially during gravid months, is essential!
As far as the coiled uvb bulbs compared to the tubed uvb, this is based on my experience and monitoring and trying both. We have a UVB meter and did try both the coil and tubed arcadia 12% bulbs and the coiled cost just as much but do NOT give out nearly as much uvb. The coverage is so small, it was actually a huge waste of money! So use my experience and avoid all coiled uvb bulbs. The tubed arcadia 12% bulbs are my go to and I so far have the same output in each of mine as the day I got them over a year ago. I check them once a month because I was told after a year they would need to be replaced. So far, my uvb is showing me that isn't true! (Good thing because they are expensive!). The thing with the bulbs is, they each are different!! So if you can afford a uvb meter I highly recommend having one for your peace of mind. Some bulbs may stop emitting uvb after 6 months from malfunction and you would never know without that meter. Its rare but I assure you, it does happen!
Please let me know what else you'd like me to cover for the next blog!
Happy Herping!
